CHARLOTTE, NC — Neighbors are telling a reported attacker to watch out after a woman was assaulted while jogging in the busy Highland Creek Parkway area just after noon Wednesday.
“Why would you have the guts to come into a neighborhood that is so busy and attempt something so stupid in the middle of the day?” said Sarah Zdeb.
She says it was before 2:30pm, and just before parents walked their children home from the nearby school when someone near Ridge Road and Highland Creek assaulted the victim.
The victim got away without serious injuries, but investigators warn the attack could have escalated to something more violent.
Police sent an e-mail to the neighborhood, warning them to be vigilant, mindful of areas where someone can hide, and to report any suspicious activity.
However, here, it’s the women telling the attacker to be careful.
“We’re very connected in this neighborhood, and you don’t know who that female is,” said Zdeb. “Just Because you think a female is an easy target, you need to be really careful because… you never know what you’re going to get back.”
Police only have a vague description of the suspect. They say he was a black male, approximately 6’2″ tall, 18-20 years old, slim build, short hair, clean shaven. He was wearing a red t-shirt, black shorts, and black socks and shoes.
