UNION COUNTY, NC — Law enforcement in Union County took a moment Friday night to remember fallen officers.

They include Sergeant Jeffrey Greene.  Greene died while on duty when a tractor trailer crushed in patrol car in November.  Greene’s name has been added to the police memorial in Monroe.

“It’s important that we recognize our officers who have gone on and fallen in the line of duty,” said Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey.  “But it’s also important that we realize that we have officers working every day.”

Eddie Weeks is the truck driver accused in Sgt. Greene’s death.  He is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
