DASH CAM VIDEO: Suspected Drunk Driver Hits York Co. Deputy Head-On

ROCK HILL, SC – Just after midnight on May 9th, a suspected drunk driver ran head-on into a York County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped in the median.

The accident happened on Cherry Road near the Home Depot shopping area. Deputy James H. Brown was sitting in the median with his lights on when Cesar Cortes, 23 of Rock Hill, traveled into the median and struck Brown’s cruiser head-on.

Cortes was driving a 2001 GMC truck and had one passenger in the vehicle with him. All parties were wearing seat belts and suffered only minor injuries.

They were all transported to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Cortes has been charged with DUI, but no word from the Solicitor yet on whether additional charges will be filed.
