
GASTONIA, NC — Around 10PM Thursday evening, Gastonia Fire Department responded to a house fire at 3025 Courtland Drive.
When they arrived they found a two story home with smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home. Firefighters entered and found heavy fire on the second floor.
While attempting to put out the fire a ceiling collapsed injuring two firefighters, at which point all personnel were evacuated.
Fighters entered a second time and managed to quickly extinguish the flames without further incident.
The injured firefighters were transported to Caromont Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
The residents were not at home during the fire, but they did find multiple dogs which were all safely rescued.
The damages are estimated at $80,000.
