CHARLOTTE, NC — A long weekend, great weather and of course, the Coca-Cola 600.  To celebrate the upcoming race, Speed Street is in Uptown, and thousands are gathering to celebrate from around the country.

“We come down for the Coke 600 every year,” said Ashton, Pennsylvania resident Doug Johnston.

Although there were many die-hard NASCAR fans, liking NASCAR is not a prerequisite to have a good time at Speed Street.

“I really don’t care for NASCAR, but this is a great time,” said Charlotte resident Lowell Hensley, Jr.

With live music, appearances by celebrities, and endless games and food, it’s an event that can be enjoyed by anyone looking to have a good time.

“It’s all about camaraderie, being around other Charlotteans and people from out of town enjoying Charlotte,” said Charlotte resident James Kreager.

“It’s a family oriented event,” said Charlotte resident Dick England.  “They need to come, because between the food and the fun and the games.”

The event goes until midnight Friday, but there’s another full day of events Saturday from noon until midnight.  And with a perfect weather forecast, you may want to add this on the list of your weekend plans.
