OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) β Golden State grabbed the first game of the NBA Finals over Cleveland with a 108-100 overtime win last night. The Cavs had two chances to win the game in regulation in the final seconds but shots by LeBron James and Iman (EE’-mahn) Shumpert were missed. In the overtime, Cleveland guard Kyrie (KY’-ree) Irving reinjured his left knee and had to leave the game.
PARIS (AP) β The men’s semifinals are being played today at the French Open. The first match is in the third set with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (SAHNG’-guh) and Stan Wawrinka (vah-VRINK’-ah) even at one-one. The other semi has top seed Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich) playing third-seed Andy Murray.
LONG POND, Pa. (AP) β This week’s NASCAR race is being held in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, and the qualifying is taking place today. Defending NASCAR champ Kevin Harvick has won twice this season and leads the standings this year by 44 points over Martin Truex Jr.
DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) β The second round of the PGA’s Memorial tournament in Dublin, Ohio, is underway. The first round lead was shared by Bo Van Pelt and Hideki Matsuyama at 8-under 64. Masters champ Jordan Speith (speeth) shot a 4-under-68 while Tiger Woods had a 73.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) β The problems continue for Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers. Just as he was seemingly starting to play some good ball for the Rangers he’s been put on the 15-day disabled list, only seven games into his return to the majors. The Rangers say Hamilton will be sidelined about four weeks because of a strained left hamstring.
