VIENNA (AP) β€” A hospital in Vienna says a teenage synchronized swimmer who was hit by a shuttle bus at the European Games in Azerbaijan is being kept in an induced coma after lengthy surgery.

Hospital spokesman Christoph Mierau says 15-year-old Vanessa Sahinovic “suffered many fractures and more surgery will be necessary,” but says her injuries are not life-threatening.

There’s no immediate update on whether Sahinovic is expected to make a full recovery.

Sahinovic and two teammates β€” Luna Pajer and Verena Breit β€” were hit by the shuttle bus while walking on the sidewalk of the Olympic village in Baku on Thursday. Pajer suffered a broken elbow and Breit escaped with minor injuries.

Sahinovic and Pajer were flown back to Austria hours after the incident.
