CHICAGO (AP) β The sixth game of the Stanley Cup final is tonight in Chicago and the Blackhawks would have their third league championship in six seasons with a win over Tampa Bay. Should the Lightning take tonight’s contest the seventh and final game would be Wednesday night in Tampa.
OAKLAND (AP) β Golden State is one win shy of winning the NBA championship. The Warriors took a 3-2 series lead last night over Cleveland with a 104-91 win on their home court. The series resumes tomorrow night in Cleveland and if the Cavaliers win, the seventh game would be Friday in Oakland.
NEW YORK (AP) β The hottest team in baseball these days is Toronto as the Blue Jays have won their last 11 games. Tonight they look for their 12th in a row with a game against the Mets in New York. The success of late has put the Jays smack dab in the middle of the American League East race as they are just a game out of first place.
MILWAUKEE (AP) β Max Scherzer of the Nationals came close to tossing a perfect game yesterday. He list the bid in the seventh inning on a bloop single as the Nats beat the Brewers in Milwaukee 4-0. Scherzer set a team record with 16 strikeouts in the game.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) β A check of today’s schedule at the College World Series shows two games and the completion of one started yesterday. The completion of the Cal State Fullerton-Vanderbilt game will be first followed by Miami against Arkansas and then Virginia against Florida.
