STANLEY CUP FINALS
Hawks look to clinch
CHICAGO (AP) β Chicago’s Blackhawks can wrap up another Stanley Cup championship tonight as they entertain Tampa Bay. The Hawks took a 3-2 series lead on Saturday with a 2-1 win in Tampa. Should the Lightning prevail in tonight’s game, the seventh and deciding game would be played Wednesday night back in Tampa.
Chicago is looking for its third Stanley Cup championship in six seasons and if they clinch at home it would be the first time they’ve won the Cup on home ice since 1938.
MLB-SCHEDULE
A schedule full of interleague games
UNDATED (AP) β Every game in baseball tonight features an interleague matchup, and in New York the game’s hottest team has a date with a first place club. The Blue Jays start the day with an 11 game winning streak, one shy of the franchise record. The hot streak has moved Toronto into the thick of things in the American League East as they are just a game out of first place. The opposition for the Blue Jays are the Mets, who top the National League East.
Alex Rodriguez returns home tonight to Miami for the start of an interleague series between the Yankees and Marlins. The locals won’t get much of a chance to see Rodriguez, as the designated hitter won’t be used since Miami is a National League town.
The Red Sox are out to snap their longest losing streak of the season as they start a series in Atlanta against the Braves. Boston enters the game riding a six game losing skid.
The other games tonight feature the White Sox playing the Pirates in Pittsburgh, the Phillies at Baltimore, The Tigers home to the Reds, Washington at Tampa, the Cubs hosting the Indians, L.A.’s Dodgers in Arlington to meet Texas, the Astros home to the Rockies, Kansas City at Milwaukee, the Cards at home to the Twins, Arizona in Anaheim to play the Angels, the Padres entertaining the Athletics and the Giants home to the Mariners.
COLLEGE WORLD SERIES
Day 3
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) β The winners and losers from Saturday are back in action at the College World Series today. In the afternoon, Miami is facing Arkansas in a game featuring the two losers, while the evening game has Virginia playing Florida.
The completion of a game that started Sunday is also on the agenda. The Cal State Fullerton-Vanderbilt game was stopped because of rain in the fifth inning, with Fullerton leading 3-0.
