Man Arrested After Hit And Run Causing Serious Injury

BOONE, N.C. – Samuel Long was arrested this morning after an investigation determined he ran over a man, assaulted another, and attempted to flee the scene.

According to the Boone Police Department, Long had been in an altercation in a parking lot on West King Street in which he committed an assault and took off in his car. Reportedly, Long returned shortly and drove dangerously in the parking and struck James Bame, 55, who suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Officers located Long as he attempted to leave the parking lot and arrested him. Long has been charged with ten crimes, including two felonies: Hit and Run Inflicting Serious Injury and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. Long’s bond was set at $75,000.

There is no further update of Bame’s condition at this time.
