CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β€” Coach Steve Clifford says the Hornets are in a better position for a playoff run than they were two weeks ago.

Charlotte’s roster has taken on a dramatically different look after three trades and the selection of 7-foot-1 forward/center Frank Kaminsky from Wisconsin with the ninth pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night.

Along with acquiring Nicolas Batum, Jeremy Lamb and Spencer Hawes via trades, more than a quarter of Charlotte’s roster has turned over β€” with more moves expected when free agency begins next month, according to Clifford.

The third-year coach says the Hornets have “more size, skill and versatility” on the roster than they did last season when they finished 33-49 and failed to make the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Hornets introduced Kaminsky, Batum and Lamb at a news conference on Friday.
