PARK CITY, Utah (AP) β Public records obtained by The Associated Press show that a studio executive described an incident with actor Emile Hirsch during the Sundance Film Festival as “insanely painful and absolutely terrifying.”
Authorities say Hirsch assaulted the executive, Daniele Bernfeld, on Jan. 25 at a night club in Park City. Hirsch says he didn’t remember exactly what happened, saying only that she came at him and he was defending himself.
Hirsch was charged in February with felony aggravated assault and intoxication. He has made two court appearances in Park City, but has not entered a plea.
The 30-year-old from Encino, California is best-known for his starring role in “Into the Wild.”
Bernfeld was initially apprehensive about pursuing charges due to the sensitive nature of her work and Hirsch’s profession. She is an executive for the Paramount Pictures subsidiary Insurge Pictures.
