NEW YORK (AP)__ Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees have settled their dispute over a marketing payment the team declined to give him, agreeing the club will make $3.5 million in charitable contributions. The dispute arose as part of a separate marketing deal that called for $6 million each for up to five milestone accomplishments.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) β The San Jose Sharks signed veteran forward Joel Ward to a three-year contract. Ward had 19 goals and 15 assists last season with Washington, and added three goals and six assists in 14 playoff games.
