Kyle Busch outdueled Joey Logano late to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway. Though Busch dominated the 400-mile race by leading 163 of 267 laps after starting ninth for his second victory here in five starts, he had to outlast Logano during one late segment in which they traded leads for several laps. Busch’s No. 18 Toyota finally got the upper hand on Logano’s No. 22 Ford on lap 249 and he went on to his second victory in a month after missing the first 11 races with leg and foot injuries sustained at Daytona.
PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (AP) β A second North Carolina beach town is making moves to try keeping swimmers and anglers separated after a record-breaking year of eight shark attacks. The ordinance at Pine Knoll Shores would establish 10 beach accesses where fishing will be prohibited and marked for swimmers only.
IRVING, Texas (AP) β Dallas defensive end Greg Hardy’s suspension for his role in a domestic violence case has been reduced from 10 games to four. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy announced arbitrator Harold Henderson’s decision Friday. Hardy got the 10-game suspension in April after the league was allowed to view evidence from Hardy’s domestic violence trial in North Carolina.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) β Florida State is suspending running back Dalvin Cook indefinitely after a woman accused him of punching her outside a downtown bar. The school announced the decision Friday after the state attorney issued a warrant for Cook’s arrest on a misdemeanor battery charge.
