
CHARLOTTE, NC– Officials conducted an enforcement sweep of possible counterfeit soccer merchandise sold around Bank of America Stadium during a double header soccer event last week.
During the “Charlotte Soccer Project” authorities say they seized a total of $137,030 in counterfeit soccer shirts bearing team logos which are trademarked.
None of the violators were charged and authorities say all illegal items were surrendered voluntarily, totaling in 1,675 soccer related items with counterfeit trademarks.
A reported 17 trademark violations were discovered during the operation with majority of the items being soccer shirts.
Burke County Sheriff’s, Catawba County Sheriff’s, Kannapolis Police Department, Tarboro Police Department and Homeland Security Investigators all assisted in the Charlotte Soccer Project.
