CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators say a local family was the victim of SWATTING in Catawba County. Β
Investigators say the family’s home was raided by the SWAT team after someone prank called the police department claiming a teen in the home murdered his girlfriend and was holding this parents hostage.
The caller claimed to be Sean Prince and told police he killed his girlfriend with a shotgun and had his parents tied up in the bathroom. Β The caller also told police that he was thinking about shooting his parents and requested a hostage negotiator immediately. Β
Once negotiators made contact with the family they realized something was wrong with the call.
The family was detained as police searched the home. Β The call ended up being a hoax. Β Prince stated he was a gamer and had been live-streaming on Twitch before this happened.Β
No arrests have been made in the case.
