Upcoming Events Leading up to Charlotte Pride 2015

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Pride 2015 is a festival that celebrates the LGBTQ community in the surrounding area. The two-day festival is the largest LGBTQ festival between Atlanta and Washington D.C. The celebration is located on S. Tryon Street and begins on August 15th going through the following day. Can’t wait until then? Here are some events that Charlotte Pride is sponsoring:

August 1st, 10am – 10pm: Charlotte Pride Splash Day at Carowinds: buy your discount passes through Charlotte Pride for $36, including free parking.

August 7th, 7pm – 10pm: Time Out Youth, Charlotte Pride, Charlotte Black Gay Pride and Campus Pride are hosting a Youth Pride Dance for LGBTQ youth ages 13-20. Located at the Midwood International and Cultural Center, 1817 Central Ave.

August 9th, 4pm – 6pm: Charlotte Pride Interfaith Service. An interfaith experience celebrating the dignity, value and worth of all people. With clergy from a diversity of faith traditions. Located at Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1609 E. Fifth St.

August 9th, 7pm – 11pm: Miss and Mr. Charlotte Pride Pageant. Crowning this year’s new titleholders. Located at The Scorpio, 2301 Freedom Dr.

August 10th, 6pm – 10pm: Transgender Community Social & Keynote. A free evening social mixer and keynote featuring special guests Kristin Beck, former Navy SEAL and Congressional candidate, and openly transgender U.S. Army Sgt. Shane Ortega. Located at the Levine Museum of the New South, 200 E. 7th St. 

August 11th, 6:30pm – 9pm: Charlotte LGBT Community Candidate Forum. The Charlotte LGBT community organizations come together to present a forum with candidates for Charlotte City Council at-large and mayor. Located at the Le Méridien Hotel, 555 S. McDowell St.

August 11th, 8pm – 11:30pm: Trivia Tuesday with Lana Cane – Pride Edition. Join Lana Cane and her zany cast for a fun night of trivia and will being giving away prizes. Located at Petra’s, 1919 Commwealth Ave.

August 12th, 6:30pm – 9pm: Latina Pride Night. An opportunity for the Latin American LGBTQ and ally community to come together, mix and mingle, socialize and network in advance of Charlotte Pride’s annual festival and parade. Located at Charlotte Pride, 1900 The Plaza.

August 13th, 10pm – 2am: SHIPROCKED! The Queen City’s longest-running underground weekly event kicks-off Pride weekend with a dance party and live show featuring gay icon and rapper, Cazwell, and hosted by DJ Scott Weaver. Located at Snug Harbor, 1228 Gordon St.

Now for the main event:

August 15th, 12pm – 10pm: The Charlotte Pride Street Festival. Charlotte Pride’s free two-day cultural festival in the PNC Bank Festival Zone includes diverse national, regional and local entertainers, musicians and bands, and numerous participating vending booths, including art exhibitors, area non-profits, political candidates, retailers, food stands and more.
