CHARLOTTE, NC — One person is dead this morning after a fatal accident on West WT Harris Blvd yesterday evening.
Matthew Nemeth and Luke Warren were traveling on West Wt Harris around 9pm last night when the car began to fishtail. Warren was driving when he attempted to regain control of the car, over-corrected, and slid off into the grass striking the right side guardrail. Officials say it was raining at the time of the accident.
Warren was transported to CMC University with minor injuries, while Nemeth, who was in the passenger seat at the time, was transported to CMC Main with serious injuries. Nemeth was pronounced dead shortly after 10pm.
Investigators say both men were wearing seatbelts and do not believe alcohol was a factor. They do believe they were traveling too fast for conditions.
Luke Warren has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
