Heading to the Roof of Chick-fil-A with Wilson and the ‘Cops on Top’

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If you stopped in or passed the Chick-fil-A on South Blvd in South End this morning you probably wondered what was going on. No, it was the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office trying to arrest Wilson, it was the department’s “Cop on Top” fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics of North Carolina.
Wilson joined the MCSO on the roof of Chick-fil-A and at the drive through as they began the first day of the fundraiser. The event began today and runs through Saturday afternoon. Tonight is family night when kids can enjoy a bouncy house, on Friday a video game truck. Saturday is First Responders Day when Police, Fire and Emergency will have their vehicles and mascots at the restaurant.
Members of the MCSO and John Tsumas of Chick-fil-A talked with Wilson about why they felt this event was so important. Monies raised go to the Mecklenburg County Special Olympics of North Carolina.
