Rock Hill S.C. — Dozens gathered today in Rock Hill to remember the unsolved murder of a woman shot and killed last month. The family of Latoya Cureton is now speaking out, hoping to bring awareness to her death and catch the person responsible. “Violence has changed the life of our loved one, devastated our families, and destroyed our neighborhoods for too long.” said Latoya’s aunt Liz McKnight. It’s been more than a month since 27 year old Cureton was gunned down behind a vacant home in Rock Hill. Her uncle William Cureton said, “Latoya was sweet, she was gentle , she was laughter, everybody loved her.” Today it shows, as dozens joined together, wearing t-shirts that read “Justice for Toya”. Some who didn’t even know Latoya say they came to march for justice in her murder and others. Natasha Jones of Rock Hill says, “I want the killings to stop and to just come out to support the family. Let them know they do have people that live in this area who is out here supporting…and we do want justice for what has taken place for Latoya.” Latoya is one of 5 cold case murders in Rock Hill. The Cureton family says they stand with all those families, and ask anyone with information to help. William said, “My niece was a beautiful person on the inside and outside, at the end of the day she didn’t deserve to be killed.”
