WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Friends and family gathered inside the Wait Chapel on Wake Forest University’s campus to remember African-American poet and playwright Maya Angelou at a memorial service Saturday morning.
First Lady Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey were among those that spoke at the service.
Winfrey, who appeared quite emotional, said, "I cannot fill her shoes, but I can walk in her footsteps."
Angelou was 86-years-old when she passed away in her home.
