Nine Students, Two CMS Employees Injured In Bus Accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Nine students and two CMS employees were taken to the hospital Monday morning after two school buses collided on South Tryon Street at Clanton Road.

The students were aboard bus 1529 from Myers Park Traditional Elementary. The driver and a monitor on board bus 1745 from Lincoln Heights Elementary also went to the hospital. All injuries are said to be non-life-threatening, according to a CMS spokesman.

Three students on bus 1745 and another 19 students on bus 1529 were not hurt.

Bus 1529 appeared to have a mechanical problem near the driver’s side wheel, but the cause of the wreck has not been determined.
