GASTON COUNTY, N.C.– A body found in a burning vehicle in Gaston County may be connected to a shooting in Charlotte, according to police.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a shooting Wednesday in the 6600 block of Woodland Circle. A man was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
While investigating the shooting, detectives were notified that the Ranlo Police Department in Gaston County responded to a vehicle fire and found a dead body inside the vehicle.
At this time the two incidents are believed to be connected, according to police.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detectives are in Gaston County investigating. They say preliminary information indicates that this is not a random act of violence and that the subjects knew each other.
