GASTONIA, NC — A local teen accused of shooting at a Gastonia police officer will be charged with attempted first degree murder.

Police say 19-year-old Jamoral Hill is in serious condition at the hospital. He got hurt during his getaway attempt Monday afternoon.

It started when Hill allegedly stole someone’s car. He and the car were spotted at Eastridge Mall.

Officer Harris was not hit and did not return fire. Hill got hurt after he jumped off a 20 foot retaining wall to try to get away.
