Wilson’s World: NewDominion Bank and Classroom Central

Wilson visits with NewDominion Bank, just one business working with Classroom Central.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Classroom Central is one of Wilson’s favorite organizations.  He was in Midtown this morning at the corporate offices of NewDominion Bank, just one of the many businesses that partner with and support Classroom Central.

Kelly King, NewDominion CFO, joined Wilson to talk about what it means to partner with Classroom Central.  Classroom Central’s Executive Director Karen Calder,  expressed her appreciation to the all of the business that participant and to the Carolina Panthers who not only helped Classroom Central get started, but still supports them.

Britnee Reid, 6th grade teacher at Grier Middle School in Gaston County, is just one of the many teachers who shop at Classroom Central for her students.  Blaine Jackson, CEO of NewDominion Bank and Vice Chair of the Classro0m Central Board, surprised Britnee with calculators for each of the students in her classroom.  Her students will now be able to take these calculators home to use for their homework.

The mission of Classroom Central is to give students who live in poverty the school supplies they need to succeed in the classroom.  Classroom Central covers schools in Charlotte Mecklenburg, Gaston, Iredell/Statesville, Union, the City of Kannapolis, and Lancaster, SC.  Find out more on how you volunteer or donate to Classroom Central at their website classroomcentral.org.
