Countdown On for Fans Before Super Bowl

CHARLOTTE, NC — Season ticket owners chosen to buy a select amount of Super Bowl tickets stood in line at Bank of America Stadium for hours Thursday.

They cheered as they walked away with their tickets in hand.

“They’re real!” said one fan.

CMPD Officers warned them about posting photos of the tickets online.

Thieves can use the bar codes to sell fakes.

Fans without tickets will head to Romare Bearden Park Friday for the Panthers Pride Rally at noon, where thousands will send the team off to California.

“We have worked very hard to partner with CDOT and CMPD and all of our partners with the city to minimize our impacts on the city,” said Center City Partners Spokesperson Adam Rhew.

Mint Street between MLK Boulevard and 4th Street will close right after morning rush hour at 9:30am.

MLK Boulevard and 3rd Street between Church and Mint Streets will close at 11am.

Traffic rush and all, fans say nothing will keep them away from their team.

“We want to hear from the players and wish them well before they get ready to head out to San Francisco,” said Steve Smith.

Planners say the roads will be open and clear by 3:00 in the afternoon Friday.
