Mooresville Town Manager Names New Police Chief

Mooresville, N.C. — Town Manager Erskine Smith announced that the town of Mooresville has hired Damon Williams of Tarboro as the new Police Chief.

????????????????????????????????????Williams will assume his responsibilities on April 4, 2016.

Williams will succeed former Police chief Carl Robbins and interim chief Bryan Anderson.

Smith spoke confidently about the decision to bring Williams to Mooresville.

“The Town conducted an extensive search to find the right person to serve as our next Police Chief. We had some outstanding internal and external candidates. Throughout
the process, we focused on what would be best for the department, the Town of Mooresville and the community at large today and in the future,” said Smith. “Damon
Williams has strong leadership skills, will be a great complement to the existing staff at the Mooresville Police Department, and will easily engage throughout our community.”

Williams has served as the Chief of Police for the Tarboro Police Department since 2012 and has had various other roles in law enforcement. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fayetteville State University and a Master of Business Administration in Public Administration degree from Columbia Southern University.

“I am both honored and humbled to be named the new Chief of Police for the Mooresville Police Department,” said Williams. “I look forward to working with the staff and continuing positive partnerships throughout the Mooresville community.”
