Coming Together to Meet a Community Need
“One-of-a-kind JDRF Women of Type 1 Conference”
WHAT: One day motivational conference designed to bring together mothers, women and teenage girls touched by type 1 diabetes (T1D). This conference will offer support education, connection and inspiration for all who attend.
WHEN: Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 9 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: Le Meridien, 555 S. McDowell Street, Charlotte, NC 28204
WHO: Over 100 women are anticipated to participate in interactive sessions throughout the day ranging from health and wellness to claiming your independence to body image and greater self-awareness. Sessions will be led by field experts along with women touched by T1D who will provide first hand examples and life experiences.
Guest speakers will include:
• Elizabeth Maxon – Inspirational storyteller and mother to a child living with T1D
• Alicia McArthur – Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in working with adults
• Heather Shelton – Television personality, motivational speaker, podcaster, videographer and she is living with T1D
• Stacey Simms – Award winning broadcaster and speaker and mother to a child living with T1D
Interviews are available with mothers, women and teens who have T1D, as well as with JDRF staff, who can speak about the realities of living with this disease and the promising new research toward turning Type One into Type None.
