911 Call: Gastonia Road Rage Ends in Gunfire
Bullet nearly hit eight-year-old child
GASTONIA, NC — A road rage incident escalated into a shooting in Gastonia Tuesday.
Victims say the bullet barely missed an eight-year-old boy.
The father’s 911 call tells it all.
“He shot the [expletive] side of my truck right where my son was sitting,” the father told the dispatcher.
He called just after 1:00 in the afternoon while parked on Interstate 85 at exit 17 in Gastonia. He says a man in a tan car just shot a gun into his truck, and the bullet missed his son by ten inches.
“As soon as he shot the truck, I slammed on brakes and jerked it to the right,” said the dad.
It started at N. New Hope Rd. where police say the dad was behind a tan Buick at a green light, but the car wasn’t moving. The dad sys he blew his horn. That sent someone in the Buick over the edge enough for them to point a pistol at the family.
“My son said, ‘Daddy, are you going to call the cops?” I said,’No. It was probably just a fake gun.’,” the dad said during the 911 call.
That’s when police say the father should have stopped and called police, taking no chances. Seconds later, the Buick was back and fired a gun at the truck.
Drivers near the scene were alarmed by how much the rage escalated.
“If you get into a little road rage, don’t stop just keep going just keep going,” said Lisa Wilson.
Police want to questin Alan Michael Little, the owner of the Buick, to find out his involvement.
The father was clear to the dispatcher what he’s doing next.
“I don’t normally carry a gun with me, but man this is the reason why I’m going to start,” said the dad.
Police are still searching for Little. He lives in Lincolnton. If you know him or where he may be, call Gastonia Police at 704-866-6702.
