Wilson’s World: Going Vertical with the Linemen of Duke Energy

Wilson goes behind the scenes with the men who keep our power up and running.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Keeping the power on is a big job and Wilson found out just how big when he spent his morning with a group of  linemen with Duke Energy.  The linemen that were from all around the Charlotte area talked about their job, why they enjoy it and what it means to them.

Not only are the linemen at Duke Energy a big family, but in a lot of cases it is actually a family tradition.  Wilson talked with linemen who are second and third generation on the job.  He also talked with Brittany Wallace the wife of  lineman Tommy about her husband’s job and what it is like when he gets called out and away from home for extended periods during an emergency.

These guys work hard and long hours so to have a little fun and enjoy a little friendly competition, some of the guys compete in the Lineman Rodeo a competition among the lineman from across the country.  Wilson found out a little more about the Lineman Rodeo and what an egg has to do with the competition.
