Charlotte Saxophonist Adrian Crutchfield Shares His Memories of Prince

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–Saxophonist Adrian Crutchfield used these three words to describe Prince “Iconic, mentor and a friend.  I miss him every day.”

He’s someone who got a chance to know the iconic musician personally.

“One of the things folks don’t know about Prince, he was a person.  He never treated us like employees, he always treated us like band mates his friends his homies,” says Crutchfield.

Playing one of Prince’s iconic songs, Purple Rain, we caught up with saxophonist Crutchfield, who shared his memories of the singer.

“He was teaching me things everyday and he was encouraging, and always encouraging us as musicians to own our music,” says Crutchfield.

Crutchfield, like so many coping with the singers sudden death says Prince’s work and philanthropy will live on.

“He was more than a legend and more than a musician he was charitable hospitable polite, and just a great person,” says Crutchfield.

And shared this message to his fans.

“To the purple army and everybody that love Prince keep his spirit alive his music is in all of us.  So don’t ever forget what Prince was to you and what prince was to the rest of us.”
