NEWTON, N.C. — A former student is charged for making threats that forced a lock down at Newton-Conover High School.
Police charged 16-year-old James Driver after he made the threat to two students on Wednesday morning via social media. The message said that they should not go to school and used an emoticon of a gun.
Driver later admitted to police that he made the threat and was taken into custody.
He is charged with making a false report concerning mass violence on education property.
