A Connecticut School of Broadcasting instructor from Gastonia has been arrested for soliciting a 14-year-old child to have sex online.
On Friday June 10th, 36-year-old Michael Robert Geressy, also known as “Doc Geressy”, was the target of a sting operation that involved detectives posing as a 14-year-old child and communicating with Geressy on social media.
Geressy was arrested wearing a black suit, white shirt, and black tie, and appeared to be dressed in costume as a character from the movie “Men In Black”. He was driving a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria, which was an exact replica of the car used in the movie, with the exact license plate as the movie vehicle as well.
Geressy planned to meet with the child and engage in sexual activity in Lincolnton. Geressy was arrested by detectives when he arrived at a predetermined meeting location.
Geressy also has costume replicas and replica vehicles from the movies “Ghostbusters” and “Blues Brothers”.
Geressy has used the name “Doc Geressy” as an alias when he entertains in “character”. “Investigators are providing this information to the public to determine if anyone has had any inappropriate contact with Geressy in the past and to determine if any additional crimes have been committed,” according to the Lincoln County Police Department.
Geressy is charged with felony soliciting a child for an unlawful sex act by computer and appearing to meet the child. He was placed in the Lincoln County detention center under $75,000 bond, which he posted before his first court appearance on Monday.
This case is still under investigation and may result in further charges.
