Local Teachers Rally To Fund Public Schools
CHARLOTTE, NC- Local teachers came together to rally in East Charlotte today for the Teacher Truth Tour, saying state leaders need to do more for public schools.
The tour consists of teachers from all over the state lobbying for more public school funding. Teachers voiced their concerns about crowded classrooms, the need for more teachers and more resources like textbooks. They say Governor mcCrory isn’t doing enough, and that it’s ultimately impacting the students.
“They can’t even get a textbook to take home anymore. And parents are asked once again to pay for copy paper, or in some cases, toilet paper because their child’s school has run out.” said NCAE President Mark Jewell.
The North Carolina Association of Educators say the state ranks 41st nationally when it comes to teacher pay.
