NEWTON, N.C. — A man on probation for making over 400 bomb threats has been sentenced to jail for violating the terms of his probation.
On July 6, 2016, 27-year-old Cody Matthew Startt was arrested in Matoka, West Virgina, for probation violations including absconding from supervision, being in arrears of court indebtedness, and failing to complete court directed community service.
After admitting to the violations, Catawba Superior Court Judge Gregory R. Hayes activated Startt’s sentence of 4 to 14 months in custody of the North Carolina Department of Adult corrections.
Startt was convicted of three counts of making false bomb reports in October of 2015 for incidents that occurred in may of 2015.
He is suspected of making more than 400 bomb threats in Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba counties since May 21, 2016.
