CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Each September the Charlotte Firefighters Charities participate in the annual 9/11 Stair Climb, but this year they will be holding the climb in August in conjunction with the South Atlantic FIRE RESCUE Expo this weekend. Wilson was Uptown to preview the stair climb and go inside the expo with some of the southeast’s finest first responders.
The annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is held to raise funds for the National Firefighters Association. NFFA along with the FDNY raise awareness as well as funds to honer the fire fighters who were lost during the tragedy on 9/11 and to support their families. Charlotte’s stair climb begins this Saturday, August 13th at 8:30am. If you can’t climb, come and cheer on the climbers as they take on the Duke Energy Center in Uptown. There will be food, beverages and loads of fun for spectators during the event.
Wells Fargo who has been a great partner with the National Fallen Firefighters Association and again this year they are donating a large check to the association.
The South Atlantic FIRE RESCUE Expo is open to the public. Parents can bring the kids to check all of the fire trucks, both old and new. Expo hours for the public are Friday, 10am until 5pm and Saturday 9am until 2pm in the Charlotte Convention Center.
