SBI To Conduct Criminal Investigation Of Daniel Harris Shooting
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation is opening a criminal case regarding the shooting death of Daniel Harris by State Trooper Jermaine Saunders.
Saunders shot and killed Harris, who is deaf, during a traffic stop. Investigators say Saunders tried to pull Harris over for speeding and followed him from Highway 485 until he got into the Seven Oaks neighborhood off Rocky River Road. Officials say Harris got out of the car, there was an encounter which led to Saunders shooting Harris and killing him.
The SBI is asking anyone with relevant information regarding the pursuit and consequent conclusion of the incident off of Rocky River Road in Charlotte to contact the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation at 1-888-624-7222.
