Wilson’s World: Back to School Week Continues with Heart Math Tutoring

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson continues his back to school week today with the great folks from Heart Math Tutoring.  The group was working with students at Montclaire Elementary during Wilson’s visit.  Wilson met Montclaire’s principal Dr. Emily Miles and found out that she lives down the street from Derek…uh, awkward.

Wilson talked with volunteers about their work with the students and with the students about how the program and their volunteers make learning fun. He also talked with the teachers as well as Dr. Miles on the importance of the program for the students.

Heart Math Tutoring is a program that recruits, trains and supports volunteers who go into the elementary schools in Charlotte to tutor the students.  These volunteers help bring an enthusiasm and fun for math to these kids in such a way that the kids develop a strong foundation in math as well as improve their academic performance.

They are in need of 600 volunteers by September 16th.  To find out more about Heart Math Tutoring, everything they do and how you can volunteer, go to their website at hearttutoring.org.
