A cold front approaching the region will bring scattered showers and storms to the area Thursday night. A few heavy down pours, gusty winds and lightning could be associated with some of these storms. The cold front is expected to merge with Tropical Storm Hermine on Friday, bringing heavy rain to the area, especially in the afternoon. The highest rain totals will still likely be to the south and east of our area due to the most recent track of the system. By Saturday morning, we may still have a few clouds across the area, but we will be drying out. The rest of the holiday weekend will be beautiful with mostly sunny skies and much cooler temperatures in the low to mid 80’s.

*Tropical Storm Hermine is currently in the Gulf of Mexico gaining strength and speed, moving NNE at 14 mph. The storm is expected to become a Hurricane before it makes landfall late Thursday night/Friday morning just to the east of Tallahassee, FL. Steady rain is possible here Friday afternoon and evening, with the heaviest amounts staying to the south and east of Charlotte. We could also see some breezy conditions with wind gusts up to 25 mph.*
