Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Mecklenburg & Surrounding Counties
CHARLOTTE, NC — The National Weather service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Southern Piedmont of North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.
As Tropical Storm Hermine makes its way across Florida, Georgia, and into the Carolinas over the coming days, officials are preparing for heavy rains across the area.
A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for the following counties in the WCCB viewing area:
North Carolina: Mecklenburg Co., Cabarrus Co., Gaston Co., Union Co., Anson County, Richmond Co., Stanly Co.
South Carolina: York Co., Chester Co., Chesterfield Co., Lancaster Co.
The watch will be in effect from 6am Friday to 6am Saturday.
The NWS says areas south of I-85 could potentially see flooding of streams and urban areas as soon as Thursday night as the potential for heavy rain exists before the arrival of Hermine.
WCCB will continue to track the progress of Tropical Storm Hermine and provide updates throughout the day online. Get full on air updates on WCCB News Rising and tonight on WCCB News at Ten.
