Florida Man Takes Chester Officers On High-Speed Chase
CHESTER, S.C. — A Florida man has been arrested for evading officers in Chester County.
Lieutenant Neal of the Chester County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop, 38-year-old, Scott Lewis Buckner, of Hernando Florida, after he was seen repeatedly driving on the shoulder of northbound I-77 near mile marker 55 in Chester County.
Buckner failed to heed police sirens and cut off a tractor trailer to exit the highway at exit 65, where he then ran a stop sign to turn on to Lancaster Highway.
Reports say Buckner then sped through the town of Richburg, where he ran a stoplight as more officers tried to stop him.
Buckner crossed over the median into oncoming traffic and struck two officer’s vehicles before pulling into a parking lot, exiting the vehicle, and fleeing into the woods.
Chester County Sheriffs and the York County Sheriff’s Bloodhound Unit later located Buckner in the woods and detained him. He was taken to the Chester County Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault, Malicious Injury to Property and Resisting Arrest.
