WCCB Charlotte first reported to you Tuesday when officers arrested two women. The suspected shooter, Irving Fenner, Jr., was still on the run.
With each search, investigators say they’re one step closer to finding him. They’ve been trailing him since Saturday when they say he shot Officer Brackeen.
Officer Brackeen was serving a warrant for Fenner’s arrest.
Tuesday, Shelby Police closed in on those Fenner knew.
First, officers arrested Deitra Morris. Fenner’s family says that’s the great aunt of one of his children.
Officers surrounded her home near Charles Rd. with guns drawn, searching for Fenner.
Sources say investigators have been staking out the house, and went inside minutes after booking her into the Cleveland County Jail for accessory to murder.
They searched the nearby garbage for any weapons or evidence.
In the meantime, officers were at the Department of Social Serves arresting Ashley Hamrick. Fenner’s family says he lived with her at one point.
While her social media page shows support for Officer Brackeen, police booked her into jail for harboring an escapee. Her bond is set at $100,000. Her first court appearance is set for Wednesday.
Sources say police are trailing Fenner, but they don’t expect to find him in Shelby.
There is a $25,000 reward for information leading to Fenner’s arrest.
