CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system is advising schools to keep students indoors as much as possible in response to the poor air quality caused by the wildfires in western North Carolina.
CMS also sent a letter to high school Athletic Directors canceling the Polar Bear Invite scheduled to occur at Olympic High School, and limiting practices and workouts to 45-outdoor minutes, including water breaks.
The Charlotte area is in the EPA’s “Code Red” range according to their Air Quality Index. Β Everyone may experience adverse health effects, and people with sensitivities may experience more severe reactions to outdoor exposure.
