Taylorsville Woman Arrested For Setting Home On Fire

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — A woman in Taylorsville has been arrested for intentionally setting her home on fire, according to a news release.

Investigators say 32-year-old Crystal Shumate has been charged with second degree arson and burning of personal property.

The house on Highway 16 North was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived at the scene.  No one was injured but officials say the home was occupied at the time of the fire.

Shumate was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
