DENVER, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a murder-suicide in Lincoln County after trying to serve an eviction notice. Investigators say they found two women, 55-year-old Catherine Collins and 50-year-old Betina Johnson, who lived together at a residence on Madison Lane dead.
Collins was found in the living room while Johnson was found in the bedroom. Investigators say a shotgun was used during the crime.
Detectives could not determine how long they had both been deceased. Deputies were at the home to serve an eviction notice. Investigators say there were no signs of a struggle and all the doors were locked and the home was secured.
