Wilson’s World: The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is about More than Blood Donations
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson stopped in at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas on South Blvd where he found that the center is about more than just blood donations. During the holidays the need for blood donations are the most crucial. The center is asking everyone to stop in and help out.
But one think that a lot of people might not know about the center is their Puppies for Patients program. CBCC donors who give blood during November and December sign a gift tag to be attached to a stuffed puppy and delivered by CBCC to children in area hospitals and care facilities. Since 2005, CBCC has delivered thousands of these puppies to children in local hospitals in the hopes of brightening their holidays.
Wilson also enjoyed playing with a couple of the therapy dogs that visit with the patients at Levine Children’s Hospital and other hospitals in the area. Both of these dogs bring a lot of love to patients both young and old.
The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is a locally managed, non-profit community blood center. It is a member of the America’s Blood Centers, a group of 67 independent blood centers that supplies 50% of the blood across the country. To find out more about donating blood at the center as well as their hours and donation drives, go to their website at www.cbcc.us.
