CORNELIUS, NC — Just before the first snow fell in North Mecklenburg County, people in Cornelius prepared to be snowed in for the weekend.
“The bread was gone,” said Lou Raymond outside of a grocery store.
In cities like Huntersville and Cornelius, the NC Department of Transportation plows interstates first, which could leave side roads too dangerous to travel.
“We just rented movies, and we’re going to sled and hang out,” said Jen Ansted.
Parents say the kids would rather have a snow storm during the week, “Yeah! No School! The moms want no school, too!” said Ansted.
But they do agree, a weekend wave of snow will mean less people on slick roads.
“We’ll probably sit around, cook some soups and eat bread and desserts,” said Shirley Nash. “Just get all fat and sassy!”
