Wilson’s World: Previewing the 2017 Tega Cay PD Polar Plunge

TEGA CAY, S. C. – The Tega Cay Police Department’s first polar plunge was such a big success last year, that they decided to do it again.  Wilson was at Lake Wylie in Tega Cay this morning giving us a preview of the upcoming February 4th event.

The Tega Cay PD is once again sponsoring the event to benefit Special Olympics of South Carolina.  Last year’s plunge was a huge success, raising more than twice as much as their goal.

The events at the polar plunge also include a coffee and donuts, a costume contest and lunch.   There will also be corn hole toss as well as lots of other fun events.   Last year’s event was such a big success in part because of the participation of students from local high schools.  The kids really get into it bringing some heavy duty competition to the plunge.

The plunge will be held at the Tega Cay Beach Club in Tega Cay.  But, if taking a leap into the chilly waters of Lake Wylie on a February day is just a little too cold for you, you can still help by donating to the Special Olympics of S.C.  For more information on the plunge and how you can sign up, help or donate go the website HERE.
