MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Deputies say a woman has been arrested for stealing checks from a home while she was babysitting.
Brittany Butler is accused of stealing several checks and cashing them at a credit union in Mooresville and in Huntersville.

Detectives say they obtained copies of the cashed checks which were written out to Butler. Surveillance footage also showed a woman in a red SUV cashing the checks.
Investigators say they were able to positively identify Butler from the surveillance footage. Detectives also say she used the same vehicle to steal packages from homes in the Brawley School Road area.
Butler has been charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, two counts of uttering forged instrument and one count of larceny.
