COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities in Richland County, South Carolina have arrested three of four suspects accused of robbing a Verizon Store in Waxhaw Friday night.
According to reports, the suspects tied up an employee at the Verizon store in Waxhaw before stealing an unspecified amount of product from the store and fleeing in a silver Toyota Camry.
A South Carolina State Trooper identified the the suspect vehicle on I-77 South near Columbia, and a high-speed chase ensued. During the chase, someone in the suspect vehicle fired shots at the Trooper before the suspect vehicle crashed into a median on Killian Road in Columbia. Β The suspects then began to flee on foot.
Officers at the scene recovered a handgun, along with numerous stolen cell phones and iPad devices, which were inside the vehicle.
Richland County Sheriffs, South Carolina Highway Patrol and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division formed a perimeter and searched the area.
As a result of the search , Paul Walker, 20, Malik Gadist, 20, and Julius Washington, 26, were all apprehended.
They are being held at the Alvin S Glenn Detention Center on Armed Robbery charges for the Waxhaw robbery, and more charges are forthcoming from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Sheriff Leon Lott said detectives are still searching for a fourth armed robbery suspect, and say they have “very significant leads” in the case.
Sandra Mack, 27, was determined to have assisted the suspects flee and was charged with Obstruction of Justice, Accessory After the Fact of Attempted Murder, and Accessory After the Fact of Armed Robbery.
According to Sheriff Lott, the apprehended individuals are “suspects in multiple armed robberies in S.C. and N.C., to include the Columbia area.” Β Lott added, “some very dangerous individuals were safely apprehended last night and this morning.”
